Bülent Evcil

Bülent Evcil graduated from the State Conservatory of Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University in Istanbul, where he studied in the class of M. Berka. He continued his studies at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels (with M. Grauwels) and at the Heidelberg ‑ Mannheim Music Academy (with J. Tungay).

In 1992, Evcil won Second Prize in the Best Interpreter Competition at the International Flute Seminar in Dublin, organized by the legendary flutist Sir James Galway, which gave him the unique opportunity to study with this legendary master.

From 2000 to 2005, he held the position of Solo Flutist in the orchestra of the Istanbul State Opera and Ballet. Currently, he is the solo flutist of the Istanbul State Symphony Orchestra.

Evcil has also played as a guest Solo Flutist and Principal Flutist with numerous international symphony orchestras, including the Arturo Toscanini Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Lorin Maazel, the Italian International Symphony Orchestra, the Sao Paulo State Symphony Orchestra, the Dresden Philharmonic Orchestra, the Connecticut Symphony Orchestra, the Mariinsky Theatre Symphony Orchestra, the Borusan Istanbul Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Thailand Philharmonic Orchestra.

As a soloist, he has performed in more than 20 countries across Europe, Asia, and the Americas. He has taken part in numerous international flute festivals in Italy, England, France, Slovenia, Serbia, and Germany. Most recently, he performed as a soloist with the Mariinsky Theatre Orchestra at the Northern Lights International Music Festival.

Evcil was the first to perform a number of compositions for flute written by Turkish composers H. Rodrigo, L. Lieberman, F. Say, and K. Ince. He has been awarded the Royal Medal of Belgium for Artistic Encouragement.
