Biography
In 2010–2013, Giorgi Sturua studied at the Vocal Department of the Balanchivadze Musical School in Kutaisi. Later, he graduated from the Kutaisi Musical School. In 2014, he became a soloist of the Balanchivadze Opera Theatre in Kutaisi, where he performed Canio (Leoncavallo’s Pagliacci), Mindia (Taktakishvili’s Mindia), Berdo (Lagidze’s Lela), and Abesalom (Paliashvili’s Abesalom da Eteri).
Since 2016, Giorgi Sturua has been a participant of the Bolshoi Theatre Young Artists Opera Program. He studied under supervision of Dmitry Vdovin and participated in workshops held by Alessandro Amoretti, Élizabeth Vidal, Makvala Kasrashvili, Paul Curran, and Niel Shikoff. At the Bolshoi Theatre, he has collaborated with Lyubov Orfyonova, Semyon Skigin, and Giulio Zappa. At the Bolshoi, he has performed Gaston (Verdi’s La traviata), Edmondo (Puccini’s Manon Lescaut), Don Juan and Laura’s Guest (Dargomyzhsky’s Stone Guest), Vladimir (Borodin’s Prince Igor), and Royal Herald (Verdi’s Don Carlo). He also performed Prince Sinodal in Rubinstein’s Demon at the Queen Elizabeth Hall.
