Biography

Valentin Nesterov has been a conductor of choirs, symphony orchestras and opera troupes.
Today he is professor at St.Petersburg Conservatory.
In the sixties and seventies Early music was in his area of interest.
He conducted operas of Purcell,. Pergolesi, Verdi, Puccini, Tchaikovsky, oratorios of Schütz, Handel, Honegger, cantatas and oratorios of Bach, masses of Mozart, Schubert, Verdi, Scriabin, Janáček, Stravinsky. His repertoire also includes symphonies of Beethoven, Brahms, Bruckner, Tchaikovsky, Mahler, Scriabin, Rachmaninoff, Shostakovich, Penderecki. The conductor gives special respect while performing Mozart’s Requiem. The first time he performed it singing in the Boy Choir conducted by S. Samosud.
